April 1, 2011 Capital Classics Announces 21th Season of Outdoor Shakespeare!
Capital Classics, Greater Hartford's longest running outdoor Shakespeare festival, makes our first foray in the history plays for the centerpiece of our 21st season of Shakespeare Under the Stars. One of the Bard's greatest villains, Richard III, will come to life on the grounds of Saint Joseph College starting July 28, 2011. The production will feature the core company of performers, authentic stage combat and a powerful staging sure to send a chill up your spine on those warm summer nights. December 1, 2011 Capital Classics Announces Twelfth Night as Centerpiece of Summer Shakespeare Festival
Capital Classicsenters into its 22ndanniversary season with the staging of Twelfth Night; or, What You Will, as part of central Connecticut’slongest-running Shakespeare festival, for three weekends: July 26 through August 12, 2012.! Twelfth Night is a tale of mistaken identity, separated twins, deflated ego, and gender-crossing disguise, all to overcome obstacles and find “true” love. December 1, 2011 Capital Classics Announces Connecticut Classics Writers Series
Capital Classics, best known for its annual summer Shakespeare Festival on the campus of Saint Joseph College, announces a new project featuring original scripts by Connecticut playwrights. The company is currently accepting submissions of 10-minute and one-act plays from Connecticut writers (applicants must be Connecticut residents at the time of submission). Capital Classics will produce selected scripts in March 2012 at The Carol Autorino Center at Saint Joseph College. The series will cultivate a pool of scripts from Connecticut writers resulting in a springtime production of original work. Scripts for the series will be accepted through February 1, 2012.
