Capital Classics has been providing professional, engaging, and accessible classical theater to the Greater Hartford community for 33 years — making us Connecticut’s longest-running Shakespeare festival. And, over those years, Capital Classics has continued our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in casting, technical positions, and audience members.

Last season, Capital Classics hired 45 Connecticut-based artists, performers, and technicians for summer employment. Because of our growing audiences, we have even bigger plans for this summer!

  • Staging TWO plays: Hamlet and The Taming of the Shrew

  • Hiring an Equity actor to portray Hamlet     

  • Adding extra performances and microphones

  • Expanding our pre-show entertainment and concessions

Friend (Donations up to $200)

  • Be recognized as a Friend in the Festival program

Supporter (Donations from $200-$500)

  • Be recognized as a Supporter in the Festival program and on our website

Patron (Donations from $500-$1000)

  • Be recognized as a Patron in the Festival program and on our website; and attend one invitation-only rehearsal

Director (Donations from $1,000-$2,000)

  • Be recognized as a Director in the Festival program and on our website; attend one invitation-only rehearsal; and meet the cast of Hamlet

Producer (Donations over $2,000)

  • Be recognized as a Producer in the Festival program and on our website; attend two invitation-only rehearsals; and meet the casts of Hamlet and The Taming of the Shrew
